Sound Healing

Ancient Sounds for Modern Times

Healing sound is the soothing balm required now.

Sound Awakenings is committed to transforming the world one voice at a time with programs that support wellness, harmony, and unity through accessible sound methods. As we tune in and truly begin to listen to ourselves, others, all beings, and the earth, we not only transform our daily lives, relationships, and health, but we also co-create a kinder, cleaner world.

Tuning In, Tuning Up

Our bodies have a pulse, rhythm, and vibratory signature of health and well-being. Just as musical instruments require regular tuning, so, too, do our bodies. Highly sensitive to sound, we are tuned by our surroundings, often to our detriment, but we can learn to tune ourselves in spite of our surroundings. We can “tune in to tune up,” which is the process of self-regulation.

Sound healing is a valuable self-regulation tool, and the Sound Awakenings method is both vibroacoustic and psychoacoustic. It supports relaxation and a balanced, healthy nervous system while also quieting the ever-active mind, supporting clarity, creativity, and connection.

As we tune in and tune up, shifting from the lower vibrational frequencies of negativity, stress, anger, fear, and dis-ease to a higher frequency, we are reminded of our perfect tuning at the cellular level, creating harmony that radiates through the physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual bodies.

Well-being

As Dr. Mitchell Gaynor wrote in The Healing Power of Sound, “Sound is both a manifestation of breath and a means to revitalize it, with far-reaching consequences for people’s well-being and recovery.”

A sound healing session supports both the physical breath and the “mental breath,” inviting quiet spaciousness that affords an opportunity for our full being to pause, reset, and remember that which is right within us.

This vibrational balm for the exhausted, stressed, or wounded psyche is also an effective form of preventative care.

The number of sessions needed varies per client. Some come monthly or bi-monthly as a practice of self-care, while others come every few months, and some feel complete after one session.

“As a stay at home mother of two young children, stress is ever present in my every day life. I struggle with back, neck and leg pain. I also am a worrier and shutting off my mind is something that has only been accomplished with the help of medication. Until I had a bowl therapy session with Denise. For several days following the session, I did not experience physical pain, but more so for me was the mental relief I received. I didn’t have to try to shut my mind, the bowls interrupted the pathway of thought. It gives you such a mental break. Like it pushed a reset button. I highly recommend it!” ~ Teresa

More about Sound Healing

  • What to Expect in a Session

    • Clients are invited to set their intentions as they rest in a comfortable posture on the massage table or the cushioned floor, surrounded by the singing bowls.

    • Specific sound patterns, guided breath practices, and energy healing techniques invite relaxation and presence.

    • Often bowls are played on the body to deepen relaxation and support healing.

    • Each session is uniquely tailored to meet the frequency and intention of the client. The sound of the bowls change throughout the session, and these subtle shifts help us determine which bowls and protocols to utilize to support the client’s intentions.

    • A BioMat can be added to the session, free of charge.

  • About the Singing Bowls

The hand-hammered singing bowls are from the Kathmandu Valley in Nepal, fashioned in a tradition that has been passed down through the ages.  They are made with a 7 - 12 metal-alloy and are chanted into during the hammering process in order to deepen the healing intention and qualities of the instruments.

  • What Method is Used?

The method is both vibroacoustic and psychoacoustic, utilizing specific sound techniques, protocols, and intervallic/harmonic structures that promote relaxation and stress reduction.
